I never use Ozone in my work. It distorts the natural sound and makes a sound like plastic.
Maybe it can be useful for homemade tracks but not for professional studio work.

I don't want to be negative but these tutorials are the worst. maybe i'm wrong but the quality of the sound and of the music that is played is horrible IMO. listen to the song from 26 minutes. is that a joke? sounds like some 13 year old kid made it.

A bit offtopic, I know, but I'll make an exception:

I agree most of today's commercial music sound "artificial" and overprocessed. Sadly, this is what the crowd wants: impact, and not musicality.

Around 2 years ago or so I was absolutely amazed after discovering through a friend that most people are not even capable of following (=singing) the different melodies of several instruments when they play together at a time (i.e.: main vocal, background vocal, background keyboard line, chords and bass), but they can identify them properly when they are soloed (i.e.: drums and bass only). It was like a shock for me. I had always though eveyone listened and analyzed music like myself. Obvioulsy, there are BIG differences between the "musical ear" of people. What an amazing thing...

I guess something similar happens in mastering... Not everyone is capable is listening to the same subtle (or not so subtle) differences between this and that.

Anyway, I'll get the tuto (as I do with ALL others!).

Thanks for the music; nice. But the mix in the contrabass and keyboard is not very good, maybe because the Mp3 format. I think the best way to illustrate good mixing and mastering is the music with more instruments, like classical music.
Anyway, those tools, Ozone, Waves, Nomad, DMG, Blue cat, T-racks, Lexicon, Meldaproduction, and so on, are very useful software plugins; just have to know how to use, according to musical style. wink

Since this has become a discussion rather than comments, I will put my 2 cents in:
I agree that it is easy to "go overboard" with Ozone (which is why I'll be downloading this tut for tips), but I still think it and T-racks are the best mastering collections, when you want the ease of "one stop shopping".

And don't forget Har-bal, which is an absolutely essential (post-) mastering tool... if you don't know it, check it out.
